Rare & Thin: Record-IWC Tank Delirium Tres Mince
IWC Delirium Tres Mince: Record-Thin Tank, 1979

- Time (Hour, Minute)
WHY WE LOVE IT? Because this ultrathin Delirium is the thinnest IWC since 1979 and until today: a horological milestone from Schaffhausen and one of the most important and one of the rarest IWC.
Yes, it is the thinnest IWC ever made and until recently the world-record-thinnest watch at all -- until Bulgari & Richard Mille countered with their >200K watches last year --, holding this record since 1979: IWC Delirium Tres Mince a tick less than 2mm. The innovation by movement-constructor Maurice Grimm and project-manager André Beyner at Ebauches SA (ESA) to use the caseback as mainplate of the movement was used in the thinnest self-winding tourbillion (AP Ra-Tourbillion) and as well in the Delirium Tres Mince ETA cal999.001.
The ETA cal999.001 was used by Concord, Eterna, Longines and IWC and the comparable Concord was priced DEM19'000 more than 40 years ago -- so the IWC was probably not much cheaper. And this is one reason these are so rare. That said, the IWC is for sure the rarest of the group and the Concord & Longines the most common -- although rare nevertheless.
This example is in almost NOS-condition, was serviced by our expert right now and is technically in excellent condition, with original strap and 18K-buckle and even original security-stickers on case-back.
