Sparkling Zebra: Deux Ors Jumbo Polo, 80s Finest
Piaget Polo Jumbo Diamond-Zebra, Rare Deux Ors / TwoTone-Gold

- Time (Hour, Minute)
WHY WE LOVE IT? Because the ref7661C705 was Piagets Finest in 1982; the star in their 1982-catalogue and a rare jewel: Jumbo Polo (the Nautilus & Royal Oak of the 80s) with whitegold interlinks, factory-set with >400 brilliant-cut diamonds; a rare sparkling Zebra.
Indeed, the Polo was the star in the 1980s and as popular back-then as the Nautilus & Royal Oak combined these days. Slim, sporty and glamorous, modern, electronic and always precise (quartz) -- something that not only matched, but also made the Zeitgeist of the 80s. Yes, the Yuppie Luxury of the 80s after a decade of Hippies & Punks, Marijuana & long hairs and coming too late as an attitude in the 70s. The regular Jumbo model (ref7661C701) was offered for CHF18'270 in 1982 while this prominently placed top-model Zebra (yellowgold with whitegold interlinks + diamonds, ref7661C705) asked an eye-watering CHF43'060 at the same time.
And so it might not have been everyones taste, eventually; but it were not everyones budget, for sure. That is the reason why you can find the standard Jumbo sometimes but this heavy icon very, very rarely.
The diamonds are of course original and factory-set as the bracelet-code C705 proves. The bracelet is without stretch or defects, it seems to be fully-linked and fits a 19.5cm-wrist and further links could eventually be sourced. Of course all parts of the bracelet are stamped with the same number (172).
