Rare Gouvernail: DoubleSigned Diamonds & Rubys Helm
Longines Diamonds & Rubys Helm: DoubleSigned Gouvernail-PocketWatch
WHY WE LOVE IT? Is it the earliest "The Helm"? Well, Cartier made its classic in the late 1930s -- approx 10y later than this -- and so besides being a beautiful and interesting pocketwatch it is a spicy one on top.
We all know the so popular Cartier Helm / Gouvernail / Timone with the first examples appearing in the late 1930s and most in the 1950s and 1960s. Such a unique desing, huh? The Cartier-pocketwatch (platinum) on the last photo on the left was made in 1955, for example. Yes, but this timepiece is also made of platinum and was made in 1929: diamonds, rubys and pure Art Deco. And they even share the same dial. #SameOrDifferent? Amazing & Surprising.
Yes, Longines delivered the movement (cal10.86 with serialnumber 4.9mio) to the popular US-jeweler Bailey Banks & Biddle (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA).
