Thin-Tank: Delirium Feuille d’Or
Longines Delirium Feuille d’Or: Ultra-Thin Tank

- Time (Hour, Minute)
WHY WE LOVE IT? Because it is an artefact proving not only the innovational power of Swiss watchmaking but also the record-thinnest watch (just 1.98mm) for decades and one of the last horological milestones of Longines' most innovative decade in its full history.
Indeed, the years between 1969 and 1979 were probably Longines' most innovative decade with the giant from St. Imier presenting -- next to several other innovations -- the Ultra-Quartz (1969, 1st Kybernetic Quart-watch), the Quartz-Chron / Beta21 (1970, 1st Swiss quartzwatch) and the Feuille d'Or / Delirium (1979, worlds thinnest watch with less than 2mm) -- all three #horologicalMilestones and innovative and important. And if I am not completely mistaken they never had such an innovative decade before in their long and rich history and for sure they never achieved something similar thereafter.
Now, the question arises why is it the most dynamic & most innovative & most relevant ten years of Longines' history and at the same time the most ignored & overlooked; why is it Longines' dark decade? But the answer is obvious: an electronic Longines (like any other electronic watch) has a battery but "it has no soul." 🤣🤣🤣 And so the Longines-spiritualists & mech-dogmatists are excluding the era of 1969 to 1979 and keep it unenlightened.
But I see a very important watch here in an amazingly thin-case, made by Favre & Perret -- yes, they made the Patek 3700 Nautilus Jumbo & the Patek 3770 Nautillipse -- of 18K-yellowgold (25mm * 30mm (excl lugs) / 35mm (incl lugs) * 1.98mm). Its price was approx CHF20'000 or USD10'000 in 1979 -- and one can imagine that it was a true Yuppie Luxury item. Yes, an automatic-wound Rolex Submariner was priced slightly below USD1'000 at this time and so just approx 10% of this avantgarde-watch: modern, thin, made of gold and always precise and sharp on time -- automatic for the Punks, quartz for the Yuppies. We are happy to have this excellent preserved and of course fully-working example in our offering.
The original strap / buckle seem to be unused.
