Thin & Thinner: Piaget cal20P & ETA cal999 (Delirium Tres Mince)

Wednesday, October 4, 2023

The profile of the two record-holders from the late 1970s to the early 2000s: Piaget cal20P, the thinnest mechanical- / manual-movement (bottom), and ETA cal999 the thinnest electronic- / quartz-movement (top).

The mechanical-record-holder could be bought from Piaget at a price of CHF15'000 exactly 40 years ago in 1983, while the electronic icon was slightly more expensive with Concord or Eterna or IWC or Longines (these 4 used the ETA cal999) asking approx CHF20'000 in 1979, already. Taken these prices into account and the fact that both watches are rather fragile, it could be assumed the there are just a few left of not-many sold 40y ago. We are proud to have both endangered icons and horological important milestones in our offer.
