Rare Raised Crystal Calatrava, Historical 1920s
Vacheron Constantin Trench-Watch: Historical Calatrava w/ Raised Crystal, Outstanding
WHY WE LOVE IT? Because it is a ~100y old artefact of Swiss watchmaking by one of its best & finest (& oldest) manufacturers: Vacheron & Constantin.
The watch was made in the 1920s (see the 1922-examples from the VC-reference book in the same type with a similar dial & hands on the last photo). The watch is in outstanding and probably all original condition. Just the emaille-dial shows some superficial hairline-cracks but is stable, clean and beautiful with an authentic appearance.
The lids are both made of 18K-yellowgold and are in very good condition and closing safely and crisp. Both (inner & outer lid) are signed V&C and stamped with the same case-serial number (#251'XXX). The movement was checked, is clean and running precise & reliable (serial-number #402'XXX).
The watch is delivered with either a blue (Ostrich) or a green strap -- my preference would be blue, repeating the blued hands -- but we are also open for your suggestion.
