EmailWHY WE LOVE IT? A rare whitegold cushion-shaped VC with the popular and beautiful cal1072 with the characteristic ruby-roller bearing.
Important and sophisticated VC-automatic using the characteristic caliber K1072 in rare 18K whitegold-variant with a slightly hued patinae-linen-dial. The unique auto-movement with the ruby-bearing was introduced in 1959 and was used by Vacheron & Audemars alike. Reason for the beautiful and unique solution: Eterna held a patent for their 1948-invented ball-bearing "EternaMatic" until 1968. So this IP-protection led to the second-best solution when it comes to winding-efficiency but at the same time to the most iconic automatic-movements at all with its four ruby-rollers near the center of the rotor -- optically and with a unique sound.
Needless to say that these early VC-automatics (like cal2071, cal2072) are by magnitudes rarer than the later common in automatic Vacheron-calibers: the ultrathin cal1020, cal1021 etc.
Guilloche-finished solid gold rotor-weight, exceptionally decorated and refined, stamped with the Geneva-seal.
Presented fully functional, running precise & reliable in its faceted case which appears crisp and defined. The Geneva-hallmark for 18K-gold is clearly visible. Coming with its box and the VC certificate of archive that confirms case- & movement-numbers and production date of 1971.
