Rare Tunes: Aubergine-Sunburst TronoSonic

Baume & Mercier TronoSonic: Piaget-Warhol-Dial Aubergine-Sunburst, Heavy Electronic Tuningfork

CHF 5,600

WHY WE LOVE IT? The TronoSonic in solid gold is by its own a very rare and interesting vintage watch from the 1970s with its 300Hz humming tuningfork-caliber (ETA / ESA 9164). Here we can present it in excellent condition coming with the rare & impressive aubergine-colored sunburst-dial: a Piaget-signature since the Warhol-owned Piaget "Black Tie" had the same color.

Obviously just a few times and carefully worn and probably unpolished the heavy & stepped case (comparable to Piaget Beta21 ref14101?) is clear and impressive. The black strap connects the case to the original B&M-buckle. The movement was serviced by us right now and we guarantee it for 12 months. And even thereafter we are happy to help with our expertise and spare parts if anything goes wrong: precise & reliable.

As you know, Baume & Mercier was acquired by Piaget in the mid-60s and while the mother-brand served the upper-clientele the daughter B&M was installed to supply to a mid-tier luxury level. So, is this Tuningfork-B&M the low-cost alternative to the stepped-case Beta21 of Piaget? One aspect next to the case-shape, that hints toward this is the dial that was made in the Piaget-signature aubergine-sunburst color -- the color that was also Andy Warhols choice for his 1st Piaget, the "Black Tie" ref15102 or the original ref15101 in our museum. The color is as lively and changing / morphing between black-anthracite-purple-blue as the original one that fascinated A. Warhol in 1972.

Next to this color there are the sculptural and faceted applied indexes -- very similar to the Piaget-3D-Indexes: although not the same; Piaget never used them for anyone else but kept this signature for its creations, exclusively.
