Rare Guilloche: Classic Calatrava
Audemars Piguet Hobnail-Grail: Clous-de-Paris-Calatrava
WHY WE LOVE IT? A substantial weight in the well-preserved 18K-whitegold variant and a mesemerizing hobnail- / guilloche finishing in a classic-sized case, 50y old: just lovely.
The Hobnail-Grail: Characteristic and deep guilloche-finish on the case (33.5mm, made by Eggly & Cie for AP), on the dial and on the lugs as well -- a Audemars Classic in the round Calatrava-style and unbeaten appearance. We date the watch to (approx) 1975 according to our books and research and it appears to be in excellent and -- as it seems -- unpolished condition, making this 18K-whitegold example of a beautiful classic even rarer.
The manual AP cal2001 (serialnumber 151'XXX) was cleaned and is running fine and precise. We present it with its AP-box and a neutral buckle that is connected by a high quality strap to the 18K-whitegold case.
