So you ever wondered why the most of the very rare (~300pcs made between 1980 - 1983) Patek Philippe ref3770 "Nautillipse" (= Nautilus X Ellipse designed by Gerald Genta) today run on a wrong bracelet (top)? Namely not the original ref3770-bracelet with the characteristic ellipsoid-interlinks and fitting in all aspects perfect; but a ref3800-bracelet: too thick for the slim 3770-quartzwatch (of course, since it is a bracelet fitting the thicker automatic ref3800) and quirky connected to the case and with the distinctive (but not unique) rectangular Nautilus-interlinks.
Well, thats why (bottom): most of these sportswatches had outworn bracelets and Patek simply replaced them with the 3800-bracelets, which they had plenty on stock; the 3770-bracelet was made by Gay-Freres and they are now owned by... Rolex. Too bad.
Yes, its is a longterm story in this blog -- and will stay, until its widely recognized and the Patek-capacities don't sell such as original.
