The Bulova AccuQuartz cal224 (see details here (*klikk)) was presented in late-1971 and offered for a price of ~USD400 (vs ~USD200 for a Rolex Submariner). Approx 18 months after Bulova introduced the C.E.H-Beta21-powered giant AccuQuartz (Beta21: 1st Swiss Quartzwatch) and almost 24 months after Seiko presented the Astron (1st Quartzwatch at all) in Dec-1969 and changed the world of watchmaking forever.
