Piaget 3-D Indexes

We all know, Piaget is a fantastic brand with very innovative movements:

  • the 9P recognized for its dimensions and reliability, presented in the late 1950s
  • the 12P thin micro-rotor automatic, taking automatic movements to another level in the 1960s
  • the 20P of course: thinnest mechanical movement of the 20th century

Their 9P movement allowed them to make use of stone dials -- something that earned this house some merits, too. The beauty of Pavé dials above a 12P caliber is breathtaking and another very typical Piaget dial is the one with 3-dimensional indexes -- or at least the hour indexes appear to be 3-dimensional, while in fact they are flat but cut and polished / brushed finished to appear higher than they actually are. These indexes have to be set on the dial in a exact specific order to make the illusional effect perfect -- each index is different from the other eleven. Result: the dial seems to have a unbelievable depth.

Sooo Piaget!
