Historical & Curved: 1918 DoubleSigned Art-Deco Vacheron X Gubelin, Lucerne
Vacheron Constantin Art-Deco Curved Gondole, DoubleSigned Gubelin Lucerne, Georges Croisier

- Time (Hour, Minute)
WHY WE LOVE IT? An arguably completely original >100y old watch -- made by Vacheron Constantin, sold by Gubelin and with a case made by Joseph Lacreuze (predecessor & teacher of Georges Croisier). A Patek with same specs and in similar condition would be multiples of this price...
The case is still in crisp and amazing condition but was probably slightly polished (caseback) in the more than 100y of its history. It was made by Joseph Lacreuze, as indicated by the untouched hallmark (JL) -- interestingly this is the workshop that was employing and later run (since 1932) by Georges Croisier, the Patek No. 1 casemaker and the maker of the most expensive Patek -- the ref1518, which was made 25y after this historical Vacheron Constantin.
The amazing golden Sand-Dial under blued hands is signed by Lucerne-based retailer Gubelin and the art-deco numerals and the outstanding condition just make it an unique artefact. On its back, the dial is stamped the same number as the case (confirmed by the VC-archive) and "B-F" (obviously the dial-maker). The case-number is stamped on the outside-back of the 18K-goldcase, same as the brand-stamp "Vacheron & Constantin, Suisse". Inside of the case we can find the JL-mark for the important casemaker Joe Lacreuze (ff. Georges Croisier), the VC-stamp and the stamped Calatrava-cross. And interestingly a stamped number five (5) indicating this is the 5th of this case-types made for VC.
The movement and the original 18K curved-case is Vacheron-signed, numbered and confirmed by the Excerpt from the Vacheron-Archive (included). The reliable working movement was serviced and we created a very thin and wearable blue ostrich-leather strap for the fixed wire-lugs, that is repeating the blued hands and contrasts the yellow and gold -- beautiful. And also we made a linen NATO-style strap that works with these lugs. Historical & wearable.
