EmailWHY WE LOVE IT: A clock for the sun-desk from a time when this electric solution was on the cutting-edge of technology: a photoelectric-wound mechanical caliber; it is so rare that you probably never saw this Patek Solar-Clock ref808 before. It is in excellent condition and was right now serviced by Patek Philippe, Geneva (via Patek-AD Chronometrie Beyer, Zurich) and comes with a full-warranty until August 2028.
Sparkling faceted glass, shiny golden case, noble & naturalistic jade-green dial: handmade. Lavish engraved gold front & golden side panels with green inlays. On top of the dial: elevated golden roman numerals and ornate engraved hands -- the minute hand sweeps in front of the numerals: between the numerals and the glass. Overall a very empire-inspired design.
The case measures 220mm * 170mm * 90mm and has a gilt back hinged door. Signed. One of the rarest configurations of the Patek Solar Deskclock and with case-number 2XX dated to the early 1960s (approximately, probably 1961) and so one of the earliest of these back-then modern clocks. A green monolith for the desk, with the solar-powered "perpetual" winding of the mechanical movement and a battery-buffer to run "forever": Patek-Philippe-Perpetual Motion-Machine.
Overall in excellent condition and with a full guarantee until 2028 by Patek. With no signs of use and just minimal signs of time. Decorative.
The movement-serial number is and the case-serial of 2## puts it very early in the series of photoelectric-mechanical clocks by Patek and we date it to (approx) 1961 according to our books, notes and research.
