Two Tone-Dial, Sapphire High Class Cortebert Pocketwatch

Cortebert High Class: Whitegold Two-Tone Dial, Applied Nums & Blue Sapphire-Band Pocketwatch

CHF 6,000

High Class Cortebert -- rare & special, a pocketwatch in highest possible execution: 18K whitegold case, extra-class movement cal514, magnificient dial in two-tone silver with hand-cut applied numeral and a blue sapphire-band. All original and set with more than 40 baguette-cut stones on the flank and another dozen set on the top-hinge.

The watch was probably made for a 3rd party jeweler like Tiffany, or Hope Bros. (Shanghai) or made on specific customer-request, as neither the dial nor the movement shows any Cortebert signatures -- very unusual for today but not uncommon in the first half of the 20th century.

Everything is in immaculate condition and the deep and clearly visible eagle (french gold-import mark) on the hinge, indicates it was either not or just very carefully and lightly polished. The highest quality-movement -- Cortebert delivered to Rolex as well --, with 17 Jewels and numbered 707'2XX, is dated to approx 1940, according to our research.
