Worldrecord-Thin: 1mm Citizen Quartz, Rare & Important

Citizen Ultra-Thin Quartz: WorldRecord 1mm, Rare & Important

WHY WE LOVE IT? An ultra-thin horological milestone: the worlds first sub-1mm watch-movement and a industry-historical artefact.

It is the late 1970s local minimum in watchmakings most important complication: miniaturisation; it is the first movement with a thickness of less than 1mm: a ultra-thin watch; it is the 1978 Richard Mille RM-UP01: horological important & rare.

A Citizen presented in 1978 and the worlds first watch-movement with a height of less than one millimeter: 0.98mm to be precise and thus a #horologicalMileStone. Rare and important and very expensive back then -- just like today a RM-UP01 -- since the innovation-costs were distributed to a small number of examples. And this makes it not only a relevant collectors item but also a very rare occurance: back then and especially today.

This example was made Dec 1979 in 18K-whitegold and is thus even rarer than the more common yellowgold variant, as we know that not more than 20% were made from whitegold in this era.

The condition appears to be unpolished and very good with the crystal flawless, the case with some minor scratches and the dial with some signs of age and time from oxidation. The record-thin movement cal790 is running fine, reliable and precise.

We deliver it with a new strap of your choice. It goes well with almost any color: brown, black, darkblue or even gray -- your choice.
