Rare Cartier Icon: Bicolor Octagonal Trianon
Cartier Rare Octagonal Icon: Trianon, cal21 Piguet
WHY WE LOVE IT? Small but classy and a Cartier as iconic as many other pieces from the maison but a) rarer than most and b) a bit overlooked -- surprisingly.
Without question: the octagonal shape with the whitegold nippled bezel decorating the yellowgold case and the iconic Cartier-style dial -- a untouched white face adorned with the railroad minute-track and the elegant Roman numerals -- make it a design icon. Although comparatively small it comes with a masculine touch generated by the edgy octo-bezel. The PARIS-signed dial and the blued hands add to its allure.
The Cartier Trianon is indeed a masterpiece in design and craftsmanship and was quite sure made in not more examples than the Cartier Bamboo and for sure in much less than the flagship of the house: the Tank Normale.
The case is probably unpolished as the deep and untouched hallmarks on the caseback indicate.
